Adventure Bound is excited to announce a one-day event on Sunday, May 22 from 10:00am-5:00pm that introduces standup paddle boarders to the nuances of SUP on the river. The course will be taught by Pau Hana sponsored athletes, Christian Edie and Kevin Cullen.
Christian is a professional stand-up paddle board (SUP) athlete sponsored by Pau Hana Surf Supply, Kialoa Paddles, and Kokatat. In 2013 she took first place at the Ultimate SUP Challenge in women’s whitewater on the Ottawa River and was one of the first women to run the Ottawa River on an SUP. She has several first SUP descents in western New York and travels internationally for SUP. Christian lives in western New York where she provides SUP instruction, rentals, and guide services with SUP Erie Adventures.
Kevin is a professional stand-up paddle board athlete also sponsored by Pau Hana Surf Supply, Kialoa Paddles, and Kokatat. in 2014 Kevin took third place at the Ultimate SUP challenge in men’s whitewater and has several first descents along with Christian in western New York. The duo were some of the first paddlers to descend the lower Gauley in West Virginia on an SUP. Kevin travels with his wife Christian internationally for SUP and is a partner in SUP Erie Adventures. Christian and Kevin will be competing at the GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, CO this coming June against some of the best SUP paddlers in the world!

Participants in the Adventure Bound River SUP event will learn about SUP safety, essential gear, basic paddle strokes, footwork on the board, pivot / buoy turns, bracing, and advanced paddling techniques. We will meet at the Adventure Bound shop in Ellicottville, move to the demo / paddle center and then to the river. Note: Wetsuits may be required, depending on water temperature.
What is included: Equipment rental (inflatable SUP, paddle, PFD, helmet), shuttle and professional instruction.
