Have you ever wanted to try fly fishing but didn’t know how to get started? Or maybe you have a good friend or family member who was bitten by the fly fishing “bug” and you want to see what all the fuss is about.
Fly Fishing 101
In early June, Adventure Bound is partnering with Orvis to provide two spectacular opportunities to learn the art of fly fishing. On Saturday, June 4 at 2:00pm and Sunday, June 5 at 10:00am, we will offer free Fly Fishing 101 courses as part of the Ellicottville Outdoor Adventure Expo. These courses will be taught by Orvis-certified, NY State Licensed Fly Fishing Guide and world-renown artist, Alberto Rey.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Alberto has found a way to merge his love of fishing and his artistic talent. His paintings feature fish in their natural habitat in a style known as biological regionalism. They can be found in over twenty museum collections and have been in around 200 exhibitions. His films/videos have been screened nationally and his illustrated articles and artwork have graced the covers and pages of Gray’s Sporting Journal, Art of Angling Journal, Fish and Fly Magazine, American Angler, Saltwater Fisherman and Buffalo Spree.
Fly Fishing 201
Two weeks later, on Saturday, June 18, we will offer Fly Fishing 201 as part of the Ellicottville Paddle Festival. There will be a charge of $50 per person for this three hour course, which will start at 10:00am at the Adventure Bound Store. Fly Fishing 201 will be taught by Tom Zemianak, who is the regional sales manager for Orvis. Tom lives in Manchester, VT, home of Orvis’s headquarters.
Orvis rods and reels will be provided as part of Fly Fishing 101 at the Ellicottville Outdoor Adventure Expo and Fly Fishing 201 at the Ellicottville Paddle Festival. Space is limited to 15 people for each of the two Fly Fishing 101 seminars and 10 people for the Fly Fishing 201 seminar. Space will fill quickly, so be sure to sign up now by calling the Adventure Bound store at 716-217-4047 or e-mailing info@AdventureBoundOnTheFly.com.
