Adventure Bound Destinations is proud to announce a partnership with Point6 socks for Adventure Bound trips in Latin America. Our staff and families have been wearing Point6 socks for years and we are excited to introduce Point6 technology to our Adventure Bound Destinations clients.
If you haven’t given much thought to your socks, you probably will after hearing the Point6 story. Point6 makes socks from merino wool. In addition to being a natural fiber, merino wool offers the following performance benefits:
Anti-microbial: resists odor-causing bacteria
Moisture wicking: absorbs and moves moisture
Thermoregulation: keeps you warm when it’s cold, cool when it’s hot
Easy care: wash and dry inside out
Durability
But not all merino wool is the same. There is a huge range in merino wool quality. Point6 has spent over 20 years perfecting merino wool sourcing and production. The result is high-performance merino wool products with unmatched quality, durability and comfort.
Point6 employs state of the art knitting techniques combined with compact spun merino wool yarns versus conventional ring spun yarns. Compact spinning greatly reduces loose fibers for more durable merino products without excessive wear or pilling. Heel and toe areas are reinforced with nylon for maximum durability while ventilation panels across the instep improve breathability.
Responsible Sourcing
Point6 has developed direct relationships with merino wool farmers in New Zealand on family-run sheep stations. These farmers hand-select wool for Point6 according to strict fiber specifications. Point6 sheep are raised according to the highest standards of animal welfare with ample food, comfort, and shelter in a disease and distress-free environment. Point6 staff regularly visits these multi-generational family-run farms and are continually impressed with animal care, high environmental standards and land management practices.
Sustainable Wash Process
Superwashing is the industry standard method for cleaning merino wool fibers using chlorine and water. Naturetexx is the ecological alternative to superwashing. Naturetexx uses plasma to clean merino wool and is powered by renewable energy. Naturetexx not only cleans the wool, but makes Point6 products machine washable and super soft.
Dynamic 37.5 Nylon
37.5 fiber contains active natural particles that increase the surface area of the fiber, allowing it to use body heat to evaporate moisture in vapor form (BEFORE it becomes sweat) which enhances body temperature regulation and humidity next to the skin. Point6’s 37.5 fiber is the perfect match to supercharge the performance of 100% compact spun merino wool.
Made in the USA
Point6 invested in state-of-the-art technology to make the best merino wool products right here in the USA at competitive prices. Products are designed and tested in extreme conditions at the company’s corporate headquarters in the Rocky Mountains. Point6 products are woven in mills in the Appalachian Mountains, a region that once supplied the majority of clothing in the U.S.
Supporting Local Communities
Point6 supports communities in need with donations, sponsorships and more. From donating recycled socks to the homeless to providing product for silent auctions, membership drives and volunteer parks, Point6 understands and believes in its responsibility to support those in need.
We are excited to embark on Adventure Bound Destination trips using and promoting Point6 technology!
