Well… almost a full moon. Technically, Saturday’s moon will be a 100% waxing gibbous, which means Sunday is the true full moon. Little trivia factoid… The word Gibbous first appeared in the 14th century and has it’s roots in the Latin word “gibbosus” meaning humpbacked.
So we will be enjoying the light of a humpbacked moon on Saturday night’s Ellicottville snowshoe tour through the woods above Holiday Valley.
The tour will begin at 5:30pm from Adventure Bound. We have snowshoes available to rent. Please e-mail or call in advance to reserve snowshoes as we are sure to have a high demand for rentals for the moonlight hike. Snowshoes can be rented for $14.99. Snowshoes and poles can be rented for $19.99. All gear rentals are due back by 5:00pm on Sunday.
Adventure Bound also has a full range of MSR Snowshoes for sale if you are in the market for a new pair of snowshoes:

We also have a nice selection of MSR hiking poles with snowshoe baskets. The Flight series is a light weight hiking pole that comes in both Flight 2 Section or Flight 3 Section versions. The Deploy is MSR’s trigger-release pole. The trigger-release allows the user to extend or contract the pole with one hand, keeping mittens or gloves on. The Deploy is also available in Deploy 2 Section or Deploy 3 Section.
If you already have snowshoes and would like to meet us at Holiday Valley, we will be leaving from the far upper lot (past the “no parking” signs) at 6:00pm. The hike will culminate in a fire with hot cocoa and a snack. The total time round-trip will be approximately 2 hours.
Please e-mail us at info@adventureboundonthefly.com or call the shop at 716-217-4047 to register for the hike so we know how many people are joining us for our Ellicottville snowshoeing adventure!
